Many of our volunteers become friends and enjoy working together in groups.

For example, we have thriving groups of volunteers who:

  • Read to preschool classes
  • Coach youth sports teams
  • Work at our community events
  • Greet our members at our Welcome Center
  • Serve on committees

WAYS TO VOLUNTEER

You can help at the Y in a variety of roles supporting youth development, healthy living and social responsibility in our community. No matter how you devote your time, you’ll be working with other volunteers and Y professionals to make a difference in the lives of children and families.

Here are a few examples of the many ways you can make a difference in our community:

COMMUNITY INITIATIVES
We rely on volunteers and community partners to make possible most Community Initiatives. Together with other volunteers and our program directors, you will directly enrich the lives of children and families. Volunteers drive our work in a variety of ways, depending on their talents and the specific needs of the program initiative.

YOUTH SPORTS COACH
Our Y needs volunteers to help coach youth sports. You’ll volunteer with our Sports Director, helping kids learn how to play and enjoy sports. At the Y, playing sports is an opportunity for kids to develop self-confidence and sportsmanship. As a volunteer coach, you’ll have the opportunity to act as a role model for youth as you teach the fundamental skills of the sport.

CHILD CARE AND CAMP/SUMMER PROGRAM
The Y provides a nurturing and caring environment for children, and our Y needs volunteers to help in our child services areas. Under the supervision of a program director, volunteers help by creating a fun and safe environment for the children. You might read during story time, help children enjoy play time, and act as a role model in camp or summer programs.

ADVISORY BOARD
We are proud of our volunteers who are the life-blood of our organization. Our Board of Directors are involved with the planning and advancing of the mission and vision of our Y. These advisors ensure that the funds are available in order for the Y to be able to achieve its strategic goals. Board volunteers bring credibility to the Y through their visibility in the community, their professional expertise, and their passion for community building.

FUNDRAISING
Help the Y raise funds to support our Annual Campaign. In this role, you will help to ensure the campaign meets its goals in recruiting volunteers and securing donations.

SPECIAL EVENTS
Are you ready to have some fun while making a difference? Be part of our team helping at our annual special events like our indoor triathlon, golf tournament, Healthy Kids Day, Pumpkin Splash, and much more. Volunteers assist with registration, water stations, event set up and break-down, running fun activities, cheering on our participants, and so much more!
